Day One.
This is a bit odd, isn’t it? Me, starting a tiny little training company from my home in the South Wales valleys?
Honestly, though, I felt compelled to do it. I’ve been in this industry for over ten years, and in short, I got made redundant in December last year from a role I loved; a role where I was always learning and growing, and I wasn’t ready to stop. I adore a challenge, and I couldn’t find a role that called to me - until somebody suggested I go self-employed - I hadn’t considered that option. Self-employment always sounded a bit scary to me, but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense and I decided that if I was going to do it, then I’d go the whole hog and start my own business, too!
But why, though? Why not stick to being a freelancer? It’s much easier, and I’ve been so lucky to have worked for some well-established companies as a freelancer for the past few months - one in particular has been my absolute rock, from both a professional level and a personal one too, so huge thanks to Debbie and Craig for their support.
Well, in short, it’s because I have a vision: Empathy, with impact. What does that even mean? It means knowing whether you have a group of learners who can’t wait for the introductions, or whether they’re trying their best to hold it together and not panic just having to say their name in front of a group. It means connecting with people and understanding what matters to them. It also means bold, modern training packages with crystal-clear objectives and measurable, quality-focused outcomes.
I have so many ideas - though I’m doing my best to walk before I can run! I’d love you to come on this journey with me, just give me a little ‘follow’ on the socials and don’t hesitate to share your thoughts, ideas and feedback however you like! Because without knowing what I can do better, I can’t change it. As Oprah Winfrey said: “We can’t become what we need to be by remaining what we are”.
